Generator AMC
When Standby Power
Has to Work.

MDI's Annual Maintenance Contract programme keeps Cayman's hotels, hospitals, government facilities, commercial buildings, and standby-critical operations powered. Scheduled servicing, priority emergency response, and a written condition report after every visit — so when the grid drops, the generator runs.

A Generator That
Sits Idle
Is a Generator
That Fails.

Most generator failures happen exactly when they matter most — during a hurricane, a grid outage, or a critical operation. Almost always because the unit sat idle for months, batteries drained, fuel went stale, fluids degraded, and a small undetected fault was waiting for the moment the load came on.

An Annual Maintenance Contract is the discipline that prevents that. Scheduled visits keep the unit exercised, fluids fresh, batteries strong, and faults caught early. Priority response means when something does go wrong, you're at the front of the queue. And a written condition report after each visit gives you the documentation you need for warranty, insurance, and internal compliance.

MDI has serviced Cayman's commercial and standby generator fleet for 40+ years. The same Caymanian-owned team that installs and repairs generators across the islands handles every AMC client.

Three Pillars.
One Programme.

Every MDI generator AMC is built on the same three commitments. Programme scope is tailored to your asset and operating profile — request a quote for details.

01

Scheduled Maintenance

Preventative servicing visits at set intervals across the year — built around your unit's manufacturer schedule and operating profile.

  • Oil, filter, and fluid changes
  • Coolant + fuel system service
  • Battery test & terminal service
  • Load-bank or live-load testing
  • Belt, hose, and seal inspection
  • Control-panel & ATS check
  • Full visual & mechanical inspection
02

Priority Emergency Response

When an AMC client calls with a fault or outage, they're jumped to the front of the queue. One-off callers wait — AMC clients get seen first.

  • Priority dispatch on faults
  • Out-of-hours response available
  • Hurricane & storm-event coverage
  • Direct line to the service team
  • Pre-coordinated response plan
  • Parts & consumables on hand
  • Critical-site escalation path
03

Condition Reports & Hours

Written report after every visit. Running hours, work performed, parts replaced, flagged items — the documentation you need for warranty, insurance, and compliance.

  • Running-hours log per visit
  • Itemised work-performed record
  • Parts & consumables replaced
  • Fluid sample results (where applicable)
  • Load & electrical readings
  • Flagged items for future attention
  • Continuous service-history file
A 4-hour outage in a Cayman hotel costs more than a decade of AMC service.

An empty hotel during high season. A hospital ward without HVAC. A bank with no ATMs. A data centre offline. The economics of standby power aren't about the generator — they're about what happens when it doesn't start. AMC is the line of defence that keeps the cost of failure out of the equation.

AMC Programme
FAQs

What is an AMC for a generator?
An Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) is a service agreement under which MDI maintains your standby or prime-power generator on a fixed schedule across the year. It typically covers preventative servicing visits at set intervals, priority emergency response when something goes wrong, and a written condition report after each visit — so you know exactly what's been done and what the unit needs next.
What does an MDI generator AMC include?
Three core inclusions: (1) scheduled preventative-maintenance visits at set intervals across the year — fluid changes, filter replacements, load checks, battery tests, and full visual and mechanical inspection; (2) priority emergency response when an AMC client calls with a fault or outage; (3) a written condition report after each visit with running hours, work performed, parts replaced, and any items flagged for future attention.
What kind of generators do you cover under an AMC?
Commercial standby and prime-power generators across the major engine and alternator brands — single-set units up through paralleled systems. Typical AMC clients include hotels and resorts, hospitals and clinics, government and public-sector facilities, banks and offices, marinas, telecoms and data infrastructure, strata and property managers, and any operation where unplanned downtime carries a real cost.
Why do I need an AMC if my generator is new?
Two reasons. First, most generator manufacturer warranties require documented scheduled servicing — without it, warranty claims get rejected. An AMC keeps that documentation in order. Second, the most expensive generator failures happen because units sit idle for months and then are asked to take full load during a hurricane or grid outage. Scheduled run-tests and inspections catch the failures before they matter.
How fast is emergency response for AMC clients?
AMC clients are jumped to the front of the queue when they call. Response timing depends on parts availability and the nature of the fault, but priority dispatch means an AMC client gets seen before a one-off caller for the same fault. For critical sites we coordinate response expectations as part of the contract setup.
What's a condition report and why does it matter?
After every AMC visit our technician produces a written report covering: running hours, services performed, parts replaced, fluid samples taken, electrical readings, load-test results, and any items flagged for future attention. The report builds a continuous service history — useful for warranty claims, insurance documentation, internal compliance, and resale value if the unit ever changes hands.
Can I add an AMC mid-year?
Yes. AMCs can start any time. The first visit typically includes a baseline inspection so we know the condition of the unit going in — that lets us flag any pre-existing issues separately from the AMC scope.
How do I get an AMC quote?
Send us the basics — make, model, kVA rating, location, and the typical running pattern (standby only, or running prime power) — and we'll quote a programme that fits the asset. If you have more than one generator across multiple sites, send the list and we'll quote a fleet programme. Use the form on this page or call 345.949.3555.
